Sparkling wine made with poppy blossom extract, made in Flanders Fields, from grapes grown on a former battlefield on the Northern tip of the Ypres salient. We don’t want to cling on to the past, but try to bring a positive message. What once was a place of devastation and horror, is now producing wonderfull and exceptional products.

There are thousands of winemakers around the world, but only one that makes sparkling Poppy Wine. This wine has extremely fruity tastes of mint, cherry, cranberry, strawberries… ideal as an appetiser. It’s unique in the world.

Melting the past into the future, that’s our goal at Silver Cross Winery, bringing a tribute to the heroes, it is our contribution to keeping the me mory alive. This drink has since been served after a remembrance function at the House of Commons.

White wine made from Pinot Gris grapes

This white wine, also known as a Grey wine, made from noble Pinot Gris grapes, grown on a former battle field of WW1 in the Ypres Salient will surprise a great many.

Some of the best Pinot Grigios are found in Northern Italy, in a climate not that dissimilar to ours, here in Flanders. A golden pinkish colour is obtained with cold maceration: Gris de Gris or Orange Wine.

The rich soils of Silver Cross vineyard give this wine that extra edge. Fresh and Fruity, tones of flavours waiting to be discovered. This wine will accompany your salads and white meat dishes with perfection/ Or can be your companion on a sunny patio.

Perfectly served at 6 to 8°C. Harvest of 2015, bottle 2016. Will ripen on the bottle for at least 3 years. 12% alc. vol, 75c

White wine ripened on oak.

This noble Chardonnay, produced on a former battlefield of WW1 in the Ypres Salient will surprise a great many.

Fruity, Fresh and elegant and with a toasty finish. The best Chardonnays are made in the Burgundy area. Names like Meursault, Pouilly Fuissé, Chablis,... sound like quality in your ears, but are often very pricy. In Flanders we may lack the Burgundy soils, and sun, but we can make a wine made exactly as in Burgundy. This way we make something unique. A Flemish Burgundy? Malolactic fermentation, makes the wine rounder, fuller, buttery even, it gives that wine that toasty aftertaste. The oak maturing gives it vanilla flavour and more character. This wine will accompany your white meat dishes, fish dishes and mussels with perfection.

Serve at 10 to 12°C. Harvest of 2015, bottled august 2016. Will ripen on the bottle for at least another 5 years.

Grape and Pear Liqeur.

No added sugars, 18,5%vol.

The name refers to the Wipers Times, the trench newspaper printed in Ypres in 1916. The Wipers Times can be seen as the forerunner of satirical newspapers of today like the ‘Private Eye’ or ‘the Onion’. Or even Charlie Hebdo.

The bottle is styled after a dug up trench rationing bottle. This drink is excellent as an appetiser (served ice cold) or will accompany your desert dishes. We like to call it the mariage of Madame Pineau de Charentes and Mister Poire William. The sweet taste is followed by a green and fresh aftertaste, This is the pear marking its presents.
